This wasn’t what I expected – Good or Bad?
The onsen experience was outstanding with four different baths, including outdoor options offering breathtaking views. Our kaiseki dinner was lavish, showcasing a diverse array of delicious dishes that left us truly satisfied.
The only challenge was reaching the hotel — after getting to the small train station, finding the pay phone for shuttle service was a bit confusing, which could add unnecessary stress.

Spent three nights at Yumotokan, and it felt like a luxurious retreat. The attention to detail in service stood out. From the moment I stepped out of the shuttle at Ogoto Onsen train station, I felt welcomed. The room was spacious, with a private onsen that offered incredible relaxation. The tatami mats and traditional decor added to the authentic Japanese experience. Dining was a highlight, particularly the kaiseki dinner, showcasing beautifully presented dishes. Also enjoyed the private thermal baths. they were serene and well-maintained. One issue was the limited shuttle service in the evening. After 7 PM, only taxis were available, which could be a hassle for getting around. The food portions during breakfast and dinner were quite large, which might be too much for some. Nonetheless, I truly felt pampered and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. Perfect for a couple seeking tranquility and a taste of Japanese culture.
